Then find ways to embrace new things in your job to get out of your comfort zone.
  2. Learn to handle tough situations. Even when things are great, it may only be a matter of time before something surprising happens. Mistakes are sometimes unavoidable, and unforeseen challenges will happen. A good leader can overcome these problems and emerge stronger on the other side. How do you react to obstacles in your path?
  3. Find the ability to tap into your strength. The human instinct of flight or fight is very real. But a leader is someone willing to take a step back and evaluate all the options. You have to use the strength you’ve developed throughout your life and career to find out the best way to approach problems head-on. Be solutions oriented and willing to get your own hands dirty.
  4. Be willing to learn new things. Leaders are not people willing to fall into the background. To lead by example, you need to be open to learning new things every step of the way. Never fall into the trap of saying “this is the way it’s always been done.” Be open to new ideas. Learn from your team. Embrace the evolution of business.  
  5. Be available for your team. A good leader is only as good as their team. To create a solid team, they have to trust you. That means you need to be willing to pitch in when they need you most. However, you also need to know when to take a step back to avoid micromanagement. Just be there for them and create a culture where everyone is comfortable working and contributing.
